Professor Emeritus Lakshman “Sam” Samaranayake of the University of Hong Kong, is a renowned clinical academic with expertise in clinical microbiology, research, and executive level administration, and has worked in five different universities in UK, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, and UAE.
With a current h-index of 97, he is the author of over 450 publications, including seminal texts, cited over 31,000 occasions. He is also the current Editor-in-Chief of the International Dental Journal.
Professor Samaranayake has served over 12 years as the Executive Dean of two major dental schools in Hong Kong and Australia at the Universities of Hong Kong and Queensland, respectively.
A highly sought-after speaker, he has addressed professional bodies in over 40 countries, and received numerous accolades for his research, including the coveted King James IV Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, and the Distinguished Scientist Award of IADR, USA.
